The Desired Simple Life For a Day in Atok, Benguet (Stayed at Sunrise Cabin and Visited the Northern Blossom Flower Garden)

 Hello!

It has been ages since I last wrote here. I've been thinking about putting all my life adventures on my blog lately so I don't have to keep them on my phone forever. 😂 I almost used up all my phone storage so I forcedly decided to delete a bunch of pictures and videos. I am quite a sentimental person and I feel like videos and pictures are necessary to keep them as memories. I am also too lazy to post them on my social media because I have to edit the pictures and videos first. That's a lot of time to do and I really don't have massive energy to do it casually. 🙅

Last 14th of December, we went to Atok, Benguet to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided to stay here for one night so we could have all the day to ourselves without overdoing the trip. We just opted to visit the Northern Blossom Flower Garden, and that was it. We were thinking of visiting two other places but we realized they all had the same ambiance and we would have to go on another trip going back and forth. You know? We already spent 8 hours of travel from the night of Wednesday the 13th straight from work. Wew!

And with everything to keep in mind, the Northern Blossom would still be the best view and location of all based on our research online. So we just made it easy and simple from there.

So before anything else, let's do the pictures first! 📸 Regardless of your phone, everything you capture here will be beautiful, amazing, and surreal!

WARNING!
This garden is so wide and high - you might experience altitude sickness and breathing problems if you're not used to walking a lot in cold and high places. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME, DO NOT RUSH YOURSELF HERE.

Here are a few things you need to know before going here:
  • The road is zigzag all the way up and it's a 2-hour travel from Baguio. There is a high possibility that you'll get motion sickness, so please keep the necessary things with you - medicine and a plastic bag.
  • The van drivers are skilled so they overtake anytime even when there's a curve HAHAHA. Don't panic, just say a lot of prayers for a safe travel 😂
  • To avoid going there crowded, go during weekdays and early mornings. They open from 6AM until 4:30 PM from Mondays to Saturdays, and they close every Sunday.
  • The entrance fee is 250 pesos inclusive of bread and unlimited brewed coffee. There is also no time limit to go around the garden.
  • The reception has storage areas for your heavy bags, you can leave them there before touring the garden.

A Night at Sunrise Cabin - Atok

Traveling a lot in one day is tedious so instead of going back to Baguio right after our Northern Blossom tour, we planned in advance to stay one night in Atok. We booked at Sunrise Cabin Travelers Inn and we discovered this place by thoroughly watching videos online. We've seen a lot of TikTok videos suggesting this place so we just went with this algorithm and booked through their Facebook page. We paid 1,600 pesos for the attic room for 2 for one night but the price is good for 3 pax. AND IT WAS WORTH IT though there are a few things I wished were there during our stay (but it was not that big, it's a new inn so they are a work in progress).

SOME USEFUL INFORMATION FOR YOU:
  1. You can cook at this inn so all you need to do is to buy ingredients. There is also a small restaurant available for food delivery, just kindly ask the receptionist.
  2. There's no drinking water available. You need to buy from the stores.
  3. ALWAYS buy before 7PM, or better yet buy all the things you need in advance so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Stores in Atok close as early as 7PM.

  4. Based on our own experience, public transportation is also quite difficult. Like the stores, you can barely see any garage (Atok's PUV) beyond 7PM. It is likely because roads in Atok are steep and near the cliff, so it is discouraged to travel during the night.

  5. There are only a few restaurants and eateries near this inn but there are stores that sell Korean street food (amazing isn't it? 😂).

  6. The eateries are mostly generous in their serving. I don't know if this is a Cordilleran thing? But yeah, the serving is humongous!

  7. The internet connection is limited to some networks. But I think Globe/TM works fine in this area.
  8. Gcash cash-in and cash-out are also available in the stores.
  9. This inn is walking distance to the Northern Blossom Flower Garden but going here is like doing a mini hike. Unfortunately, the road is too steep for human feet, but if you're up for a challenge, this is for you! 😂

  10. IT IS COLD ALL DAY. ALL DAY!!! We were in our jackets and wrapped in blankets in our room during NOON TIME. Apparently, it is colder when you go outside. Wew! Their blanket is not thick enough to keep you warm. You may want to bring extra or just be like us - persistent in this challenge because the cold never bothers us anyway 😂

  11. THE BEST EARLY EVENING AND MORNING VIEW EVER!!!

Imagine waking up to this view every morning? 🙆

  12. Here's a picture tour of the inn. I was not able to take a lot of photos of this place because we were so tired and cold. Sorry.

What You Can See When You're Inside:

It was a very relaxing stay overall. Traveling does not only mean touring from one place to another. Sometimes you need a pause and appreciate the place by giving more time to it. You'll learn about their people, their culture, their food, and their values. Above all, you will appreciate more how amazing God is for all His creations.

Here's a strawberry taho to end this blog. Taho vendors in Atok do not walk, they use motorbikes. We were a few steps close to the inn but we decided to finish our taho right exactly in this place, Ugh. How can you not when it's like this?

    Cheers to 2024!
