As a Filipino, it’s only natural to crave something beyond the familiar. To choose a place that contrasts the rhythm of my own hometown. The weather, the spots, the food, the people — I wanted to experience something new. Having a third-world passport kind of limits my expectations, so going abroad doesn't really excite me that much. I would always imagine European and East Asian countries, but boy, they all require a visa, and not to mention, they're expensive.  The options become narrow when money is the main character.

I know life demands payment for every dream. But still, a part of me has always hoped to set foot on a foreign land. Not for luxury, but for the quiet proof that it is possible.

I'd like to think I still have choices.

So I read. I watched. I scrolled. Through travel blogs. Through YouTube. Through TikTok.

I compiled all these stories and tips. Until I've fully decided which country I really want to go to first.

Took me many years, but it was all worth the wait.

One night, I came across a video online where I saw a train moving steadily through a backdrop of vast mountain ranges. It looked like something out of a postcard.

The valleys are nothing short of breathtaking. They stretch endlessly and shimmer in shades of green and gold depending on the season.

I thought, "This probably isn’t an Asian country". I read further in the comment section.

Got surprised by their answers.

"Sapa, Vietnam"

"No way, so Vietnam looks like this too?!"

"So we've just all learned about this in Vietnam?"

I felt stunned. I’d never imagined Vietnam looking like this. Misty, green, peaceful. It wasn’t the image that travel ads usually showed us. But that’s what made it even more magical.

I didn’t hold back. I went straight down the rabbit hole, looking it up. I just knew I had to learn more about it. I knew I wanted to be there soon.

I already imagined the train ride, the way the fog hugs the hills, my cold hands while I'm sipping my coffee. I picture myself wandering, riding a motorcycle from here to there, no clear destination, just following the road as I gaze at the beautiful scenes around me.

I never stopped clinging to these thoughts for so long until one day, I was on my laptop, and the right opportunity just came at my fingertips. A few clicks, and I was already typing my name and my husband's. The date was settled, and the payment was too. I was only waiting for that one email.

"Your transaction was successful. See you on board soon!"

Finally, I'm on my way to my first foreign country.

I'm on my way to Vietnam ❤

Working from home has become a highly sought-after way of life since the pandemic.

It opened up opportunities we once thought were impossible — and more than that, it brought comfort in knowing that earning can now be done right at home, with just our fingertips and a stable internet connection.

No more pre-dawn alarms or exhausting preparation before the workday even begins.

No more stressful daily commutes. Even transportation expenses are cut down, so you get to keep more of your earnings — and the best part? You gain extra hours to spend on yourself and your family.

It’s no surprise that nowadays, everyone’s dream is to land a job that lets them work from the comfort of their own home.

But here’s the truth:

Most aspiring remote workers haven’t fully realized the brutal reality — it’s not for everyone.

The transition from corporate life — surrounded by coworkers, team huddles, and constant face-to-face interaction — to working solo in your home space can be jarring. The silence can feel deafening. The freedom is overwhelming. The isolation is real. Even introverts can find this challenging in the long run.

As a Virtual Assistant for almost 6 years, I have been on a roller-coaster ride of trying to figure out the best way to beat the work-from-home slump. And even until now, I am still figuring everything out.

There are days when I feel focused and fulfilled.

And then there are days when I wake up completely out of it — tired, disconnected, and unsure of what I’m doing.

It isn't always fulfilling. Sometimes you just lose your mind for a second, then later you find yourself picking up the pieces again, and over time it becomes a recurring process.

And that's totally okay. We're all dealing with something every day.

Every now and then, I imagine the life I left behind — the one I could’ve lived if I chose to stay in the corporate world.

Life always happens, and a lot of things are beyond our control - there's no perfect formula after all.

But there’s always a way through — a sort of personal SOP you can follow to reset and get back on track.

To each their own — whether you’re working remotely or onsite, the truth is, not everything is meant for everyone. Our
journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. So take what works. Leave what doesn’t.

 Hello!

It has been ages since I last wrote here. I've been thinking about putting all my life adventures on my blog lately so I don't have to keep them on my phone forever. 😂 I almost used up all my phone storage so I forcedly decided to delete a bunch of pictures and videos. I am quite a sentimental person and I feel like videos and pictures are necessary to keep them as memories. I am also too lazy to post them on my social media because I have to edit the pictures and videos first. That's a lot of time to do and I really don't have massive energy to do it casually. 🙅

Last 14th of December, we went to Atok, Benguet to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided to stay here for one night so we could have all the day to ourselves without overdoing the trip. We just opted to visit the Northern Blossom Flower Garden, and that was it. We were thinking of visiting two other places but we realized they all had the same ambiance and we would have to go on another trip going back and forth. You know? We already spent 8 hours of travel from the night of Wednesday the 13th straight from work. Wew!

And with everything to keep in mind, the Northern Blossom would still be the best view and location of all based on our research online. So we just made it easy and simple from there.

So before anything else, let's do the pictures first! 📸 Regardless of your phone, everything you capture here will be beautiful, amazing, and surreal!

WARNING!
This garden is so wide and high - you might experience altitude sickness and breathing problems if you're not used to walking a lot in cold and high places. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME, DO NOT RUSH YOURSELF HERE.

Here are a few things you need to know before going here:
  • The road is zigzag all the way up and it's a 2-hour travel from Baguio. There is a high possibility that you'll get motion sickness, so please keep the necessary things with you - medicine and a plastic bag.
  • The van drivers are skilled so they overtake anytime even when there's a curve HAHAHA. Don't panic, just say a lot of prayers for a safe travel 😂
  • To avoid going there crowded, go during weekdays and early mornings. They open from 6AM until 4:30 PM from Mondays to Saturdays, and they close every Sunday.
  • The entrance fee is 250 pesos inclusive of bread and unlimited brewed coffee. There is also no time limit to go around the garden.
  • The reception has storage areas for your heavy bags, you can leave them there before touring the garden.

A Night at Sunrise Cabin - Atok

Traveling a lot in one day is tedious so instead of going back to Baguio right after our Northern Blossom tour, we planned in advance to stay one night in Atok. We booked at Sunrise Cabin Travelers Inn and we discovered this place by thoroughly watching videos online. We've seen a lot of TikTok videos suggesting this place so we just went with this algorithm and booked through their Facebook page. We paid 1,600 pesos for the attic room for 2 for one night but the price is good for 3 pax. AND IT WAS WORTH IT though there are a few things I wished were there during our stay (but it was not that big, it's a new inn so they are a work in progress).

SOME USEFUL INFORMATION FOR YOU:
  1. You can cook at this inn so all you need to do is to buy ingredients. There is also a small restaurant available for food delivery, just kindly ask the receptionist.
  2. There's no drinking water available. You need to buy from the stores.
  3. ALWAYS buy before 7PM, or better yet buy all the things you need in advance so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Stores in Atok close as early as 7PM.

  4. Based on our own experience, public transportation is also quite difficult. Like the stores, you can barely see any garage (Atok's PUV) beyond 7PM. It is likely because roads in Atok are steep and near the cliff, so it is discouraged to travel during the night.

  5. There are only a few restaurants and eateries near this inn but there are stores that sell Korean street food (amazing isn't it? 😂).

  6. The eateries are mostly generous in their serving. I don't know if this is a Cordilleran thing? But yeah, the serving is humongous!

  7. The internet connection is limited to some networks. But I think Globe/TM works fine in this area.
  8. Gcash cash-in and cash-out are also available in the stores.
  9. This inn is walking distance to the Northern Blossom Flower Garden but going here is like doing a mini hike. Unfortunately, the road is too steep for human feet, but if you're up for a challenge, this is for you! 😂

  10. IT IS COLD ALL DAY. ALL DAY!!! We were in our jackets and wrapped in blankets in our room during NOON TIME. Apparently, it is colder when you go outside. Wew! Their blanket is not thick enough to keep you warm. You may want to bring extra or just be like us - persistent in this challenge because the cold never bothers us anyway 😂

  11. THE BEST EARLY EVENING AND MORNING VIEW EVER!!!

Imagine waking up to this view every morning? 🙆

  12. Here's a picture tour of the inn. I was not able to take a lot of photos of this place because we were so tired and cold. Sorry.
What You Can See When You're Outside:

What You Can See When You're Inside:

It was a very relaxing stay overall. Traveling does not only mean touring from one place to another. Sometimes you need a pause and appreciate the place by giving more time to it. You'll learn about their people, their culture, their food, and their values. Above all, you will appreciate more how amazing God is for all His creations.

Here's a strawberry taho to end this blog. Taho vendors in Atok do not walk, they use motorbikes. We were a few steps close to the inn but we decided to finish our taho right exactly in this place, Ugh. How can you not when it's like this?

    Cheers to 2024!

Coffee is such a trend now that most coffee shops don't stand out that much, unlike before. White walls, fancy ceilings, minimalist areas, warm lights, and even the sign letters exude apparent similarities. What we are looking for should be different and distinct.

Our online search for our next coffee visit led us to different parts of Cavite - Silang, Alfonso, Tagaytay, and the most never-been-heard town to us, Magallanes.

Our unanimous choice was Magallanes.

It is a peaceful town with majestic plains and massive views of coconut trees.

This place is called Salipit Coffee Farm. But they don't grow coffee here. However, they have these gutter-connected greenhouses for lettuce, bitter gourd, bokchoy, and chilis. What makes this coffee shop extra unique is the food on its menu. They serve it fresh from the farm to the table.

All in all, it was really an excellent coffee + farm experience. The food and coffee were great, and the place is very close to nature. Before leaving, we bought some fresh bokchoy and banana.

Destressing is definitely a fulfillment here.

❕FOR YOUR INFORMATION❕
Salipit Coffee Farm  is located in Magallanes, Cavite
Pros: good place, everything is a must-try on their menu
Cons: not accessible to public transport, private vehicles are highly recommended + waze 😉

It has been more than a year since I last visited Baguio and due to this pandemic, we had more travel bans than travel plans.

Baguio will always be the first choice for me and I wouldn't mind going back there a hundred times. I am not an adventurous type of traveler, so I prefer not going and staying in a tourist spot as much as possible. I understand that it will not always be the case especially if it's your first time here. But I am at this point where I am more interested in experiencing the local living than traveling.

Why is that? Well, the reasons are multi-fold, but I have three things that keep me coming back to Baguio, so here you go...

  1.  Good Food

Every traveler knows Baguio for producing fresh vegetables, fruits, and coffee beans. On top of that, it also brags its local restaurants which offer a wide selection of good dishes. They have the famous Strawberry Shortcake of Vizcos, combo meals of Good Taste, and a healthy menu of Oh My Gulay! You name it, they have everything you crave for.

2. Majestic View and Scenery

Describing Baguio as a beautiful place is an understatement. Wherever you go, you are always surrounded by breath-taking highlands.

3.
Cheap Finds

Some places offer a good and convenient experience but it always comes with a great price. Baguio is on a different point - you can have a full-out vacation here without breaking the bank. And additionally, no one leaves Baguio without a whole heap of pasalubong.

The place where you can buy the cheapest vegetables - Strawberry Farm

3 kilos of broccoli is sold here for Php 100 only

The only time and place you'll see strawberries are less than Php 100
Okay, That's it! If you haven't been to Baguio yet, I hope these things gave you an ample idea of what you can experience in this place. I've only shared three things but it almost listed down everything why I love Baguio. There's still a lot of stuff I would like to share with but I'd do that in my future posts.

AND YES! I CAN NEVER UNLOVE BAGUIO
