 Hello!

It has been ages since I last wrote here. I've been thinking about putting all my life adventures on my blog lately so I don't have to keep them on my phone forever. 😂 I almost used up all my phone storage so I forcedly decided to delete a bunch of pictures and videos. I am quite a sentimental person and I feel like videos and pictures are necessary to keep them as memories. I am also too lazy to post them on my social media because I have to edit the pictures and videos first. That's a lot of time to do and I really don't have massive energy to do it casually. 🙅

Last 14th of December, we went to Atok, Benguet to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided to stay here for one night so we could have all the day to ourselves without overdoing the trip. We just opted to visit the Northern Blossom Flower Garden, and that was it. We were thinking of visiting two other places but we realized they all had the same ambiance and we would have to go on another trip going back and forth. You know? We already spent 8 hours of travel from the night of Wednesday the 13th straight from work. Wew!

And with everything to keep in mind, the Northern Blossom would still be the best view and location of all based on our research online. So we just made it easy and simple from there.

So before anything else, let's do the pictures first! 📸 Regardless of your phone, everything you capture here will be beautiful, amazing, and surreal!

WARNING!
This garden is so wide and high - you might experience altitude sickness and breathing problems if you're not used to walking a lot in cold and high places. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME, DO NOT RUSH YOURSELF HERE.

Here are a few things you need to know before going here:
  • The road is zigzag all the way up and it's a 2-hour travel from Baguio. There is a high possibility that you'll get motion sickness, so please keep the necessary things with you - medicine and a plastic bag.
  • The van drivers are skilled so they overtake anytime even when there's a curve HAHAHA. Don't panic, just say a lot of prayers for a safe travel 😂
  • To avoid going there crowded, go during weekdays and early mornings. They open from 6AM until 4:30 PM from Mondays to Saturdays, and they close every Sunday.
  • The entrance fee is 250 pesos inclusive of bread and unlimited brewed coffee. There is also no time limit to go around the garden.
  • The reception has storage areas for your heavy bags, you can leave them there before touring the garden.

A Night at Sunrise Cabin - Atok

Traveling a lot in one day is tedious so instead of going back to Baguio right after our Northern Blossom tour, we planned in advance to stay one night in Atok. We booked at Sunrise Cabin Travelers Inn and we discovered this place by thoroughly watching videos online. We've seen a lot of TikTok videos suggesting this place so we just went with this algorithm and booked through their Facebook page. We paid 1,600 pesos for the attic room for 2 for one night but the price is good for 3 pax. AND IT WAS WORTH IT though there are a few things I wished were there during our stay (but it was not that big, it's a new inn so they are a work in progress).

SOME USEFUL INFORMATION FOR YOU:
  1. You can cook at this inn so all you need to do is to buy ingredients. There is also a small restaurant available for food delivery, just kindly ask the receptionist.
  2. There's no drinking water available. You need to buy from the stores.
  3. ALWAYS buy before 7PM, or better yet buy all the things you need in advance so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Stores in Atok close as early as 7PM.

  4. Based on our own experience, public transportation is also quite difficult. Like the stores, you can barely see any garage (Atok's PUV) beyond 7PM. It is likely because roads in Atok are steep and near the cliff, so it is discouraged to travel during the night.

  5. There are only a few restaurants and eateries near this inn but there are stores that sell Korean street food (amazing isn't it? 😂).

  6. The eateries are mostly generous in their serving. I don't know if this is a Cordilleran thing? But yeah, the serving is humongous!

  7. The internet connection is limited to some networks. But I think Globe/TM works fine in this area.
  8. Gcash cash-in and cash-out are also available in the stores.
  9. This inn is walking distance to the Northern Blossom Flower Garden but going here is like doing a mini hike. Unfortunately, the road is too steep for human feet, but if you're up for a challenge, this is for you! 😂

  10. IT IS COLD ALL DAY. ALL DAY!!! We were in our jackets and wrapped in blankets in our room during NOON TIME. Apparently, it is colder when you go outside. Wew! Their blanket is not thick enough to keep you warm. You may want to bring extra or just be like us - persistent in this challenge because the cold never bothers us anyway 😂

  11. THE BEST EARLY EVENING AND MORNING VIEW EVER!!!

Imagine waking up to this view every morning? 🙆

  12. Here's a picture tour of the inn. I was not able to take a lot of photos of this place because we were so tired and cold. Sorry.
What You Can See When You're Outside:

What You Can See When You're Inside:

It was a very relaxing stay overall. Traveling does not only mean touring from one place to another. Sometimes you need a pause and appreciate the place by giving more time to it. You'll learn about their people, their culture, their food, and their values. Above all, you will appreciate more how amazing God is for all His creations.

Here's a strawberry taho to end this blog. Taho vendors in Atok do not walk, they use motorbikes. We were a few steps close to the inn but we decided to finish our taho right exactly in this place, Ugh. How can you not when it's like this?

    Cheers to 2024!

Coffee is such a trend now that most coffee shops don't stand out that much, unlike before. White walls, fancy ceilings, minimalist areas, warm lights, and even the sign letters exude apparent similarities. What we are looking for should be different and distinct.

Our online search for our next coffee visit led us to different parts of Cavite - Silang, Alfonso, Tagaytay, and the most never-been-heard town to us, Magallanes.

Our unanimous choice was Magallanes.

It is a peaceful town with majestic plains and massive views of coconut trees.

This place is called Salipit Coffee Farm. But they don't grow coffee here. However, they have these gutter-connected greenhouses for lettuce, bitter gourd, bokchoy, and chilis. What makes this coffee shop extra unique is the food on its menu. They serve it fresh from the farm to the table.

All in all, it was really an excellent coffee + farm experience. The food and coffee were great, and the place is very close to nature. Before leaving, we bought some fresh bokchoy and banana.

Destressing is definitely a fulfillment here.

❕FOR YOUR INFORMATION❕
Salipit Coffee Farm  is located in Magallanes, Cavite
Pros: good place, everything is a must-try on their menu
Cons: not accessible to public transport, private vehicles are highly recommended + waze 😉

It has been more than a year since I last visited Baguio and due to this pandemic, we had more travel bans than travel plans.

Baguio will always be the first choice for me and I wouldn't mind going back there a hundred times. I am not an adventurous type of traveler, so I prefer not going and staying in a tourist spot as much as possible. I understand that it will not always be the case especially if it's your first time here. But I am at this point where I am more interested in experiencing the local living than traveling.

Why is that? Well, the reasons are multi-fold, but I have three things that keep me coming back to Baguio, so here you go...

  1.  Good Food

Every traveler knows Baguio for producing fresh vegetables, fruits, and coffee beans. On top of that, it also brags its local restaurants which offer a wide selection of good dishes. They have the famous Strawberry Shortcake of Vizcos, combo meals of Good Taste, and a healthy menu of Oh My Gulay! You name it, they have everything you crave for.

2. Majestic View and Scenery

Describing Baguio as a beautiful place is an understatement. Wherever you go, you are always surrounded by breath-taking highlands.

3.
Cheap Finds

Some places offer a good and convenient experience but it always comes with a great price. Baguio is on a different point - you can have a full-out vacation here without breaking the bank. And additionally, no one leaves Baguio without a whole heap of pasalubong.

The place where you can buy the cheapest vegetables - Strawberry Farm

3 kilos of broccoli is sold here for Php 100 only

The only time and place you'll see strawberries are less than Php 100
Okay, That's it! If you haven't been to Baguio yet, I hope these things gave you an ample idea of what you can experience in this place. I've only shared three things but it almost listed down everything why I love Baguio. There's still a lot of stuff I would like to share with but I'd do that in my future posts.

AND YES! I CAN NEVER UNLOVE BAGUIO

My desire to fulfill my coffee adventure is kind of indomitable despite the limited time that I have when I unintentionally see a coffee shop along my way. It was on a fine Tuesday that I was tasked to go on a field work in Manila, that I had to stop by two universities around U-belt. I just had few hours to accomplish my job on that day, and I just realized that I was holding back my hunger for quite long which was a bad idea at all. First things first of course. I had a couple of things on my hand that must be done quickly. I was nearly completing my errands when I saw Amo Yamie Crib situated few walk steps away from my assigned workplace. That of course strengthened my hunger more and all that I thought was to finally get everything done - congratulations to me because I did!

Realizing that I was on a field work that challenged my hunger, my excitement was on a struggle at the same time. How could one get excited when she had to take her lunch at her favorite coffee shop for an hour only? You know what I mean? I still had to go back to work after this. Just imagine how half frustrated I was on that day, pushing myself to whack out my most-planned-but-never-been-happening visit at Amo Yamie Crib - I just felt that it was on that day that it finally happened. Wow. I promise that I will be visiting this place again and I will make a better blog about it. But for now, let me share with you how I was enchanted by this coffee shop that it even effortlessly caused me to blog a little about it.

Amo Yamie Crib has been making a huge name on the internet for being popular for its fairy-tale theme that inevitably thronged by coffee lovers. I have been reading articles about this coffee shop and it cannot deny the fascination and appreciation that you will feel when you visit this place. It started to operate first in Pampanga and then lately in Ubelt. Now, their branches are growing from North down to Metro - a round of applause for that!

I am residing in Cavite (Oh hello Manila traffic!) and it just so happened that this coffee shop has enthralled me a lot that an attempt of resistance cannot subdue it. So here's what happened next…

I went here at exactly lunch time and the place was still not crowded yet, which was a good thing for me because I was able to pick the most beautiful spot of their area!

Tsadaaaa! Just look how cozy this spot is! I was sitting on the upper left of this crib and I just simply felt the soft clouds resting above me. It made me refresh a memory of my student life. I wish I was able to know this place early before I finished college. I would probably spend more time in eating here than to sneak up on my notes. Okay let’s cut the confession here. HAHAHA!

As a self-proclaiming blogger (ehem, not yet a pro one), I need to find the best time to take pictures of a specific place so I can get the most of it. I gave myself a tour of the place if ever I would be including this on my blog (my initial plan was to visit this place only, but now it's blogged).

I was caught by these magical wonders and I couldn’t halt myself from admiring it. These are all instragramish (or instagrammable instead?)!
For the food, I just ordered their Red Velvet Cheesecake Frappuccino and Big Bite Regular Burger
Red Velvet Frappuccino P139

Big Bite Regular Burger P79

Their food and beverages are all popularly priced. Imagine, my total bill was just P 218 only for a frappe and burger? No wonder this coffee shop is always fully-booked. Who wants a fast-food meal when there's a food haven like this just across it? You can forget about Jollibee and Mcdonalds for a while - just go there when you crave. Hahaha! And of course, believe me when I say "The food tastes better than the price" - No joke, all of their food items on their menu are so incomparable to that of other famous coffee shops.

A P O L O G Y  S T A T E M E N T  A H E A D

"Dear readers, please bear with me if I can share shortly with you my experience with Amo Yamie Crib only until here. I promise that I will be collecting enough story for this."
You can visit their Facebook page here. Visit them and be enchanted as well!
Burrrrp!

The power of Social Media has uncovered different tourist spots in the Philippines. Now, people are being dependent on shared posts for their next travel - and I am actually one.  We used to be familiar with particular places only where in fact we have a lot of destinations to choose from! Thanks, Netizens! And so last 2018 around last quarter, I came across to a post with a flower garden of edible cabbage roses blooming and blanketed in the fog that left me speechless. I made a plan to visit it right away but I just realized that the post was a few months older and it was not the best time to go there yet - so I waited... (And please note this is a very late blog post)

Come April 2, 2019, I booked a Day Tour for three with Trip Tipid Travel and Tours to Northern Blossom in Atok, Benguet with a side trip to Baguio. How adventurous is that? We paid PHP 1,299/head only and it already covered: van transfer (meet-up point: Bluebay Walk, Pasay), Tour Coordinator, toll fee and driver's meal. There is an entrance fee of PHP 300 for Northern Blossom but it comes with unlimited brewed coffee and bread, and a Tour Guide slash Photographer - the rest of our destinations are entrance-free.

For one day (including travel time), we were able to visit these eight destinations:

☼ Northern Blossom
☼ Camp John Hay
☼ Botanical Garden
☼ Colorful Houses
☼ Bell Church
☼ Strawberry Farm
☼ Burnham Park
☼ Kamiseta Hotel

And with our itinerary, we successfully completed everything on the list but almost didn't follow the time allotted and it's all just fine. For day tours, I actually recommend booking with a trusted travel agency if you want to save your time and money. Going to Baguio alone would cost you a back-and-forth fare of almost  Php 1000 already, and if you're planning to go to other places outside of Baguio, it would cost you more - plus it is obviously a much longer trip. And that explains why. Just in case, you may want to refer to our itinerary for your next travel, I am sharing it here now:

🕛22:00 - ETD Jollibee Bluebay Walk
🕛4:00 - ETA Baguio
🕛6:00 - ETA Northern blossom
🕛7:30-8:30 - Breakfast & ETD
🕛11:00 - Lunch at Botanical Garden
🕛12:00 - 16:00:
      -Kamiseta Hotel
      -Camp John Hay
      -Colorful Houses
      -Bell Church
      -Strawberry Farm
      -Burnham Park
🕛23:00 -  ETA MANILA

NORTHERN BLOSSOM - ATOK, BENGUET

The entrance to the flower garden is so cozy! You'll get passed through the eatery where you will enjoy your unlimited coffee and bread after the tour. I didn't have the chance to get the names of the flower - there are really a lot, plus, these flowers are too good for their names.

The most scenic view in this tour is the garden of cabbage roses. It is undeniably wonderful and it will really take your breath away! If there is less fog in the area, you'll be able to see the famous Mt. Pulag. Unfortunately, and fortunately, there was a blanket of fog when we went there but we still enjoyed the experience of going up and down in each spot.

BOTANICAL GARDEN - BAGUIO
We happened to visit Botanical Garden for the second time around and we had enough of flower sceneries from Atok already, so we didn't really take another tour of it again. Instead, we took our lunch in one of the restaurants inside and chose the best spot for our dine-in. The name of the restaurant is The Garden Diner. It's easy as breathing to look for it - it's nearly situated at the entrance, the very first one on the left.

Imagine eating your lunch with this view? It was an unforgettable scenic lunch for me! ♥

I ordered Chicken Sisig and it was so goooood!

KAMISETA HOTEL

This place is perfect for eating and relaxing, of course sleeping (after all it's a hotel). It has a French-inspired aesthetics with a great touch of vintage concept. It's quite secluded and quiet except it gets thronged by visitors during peak seasons. Everything here is Instagram-worthy. Aside from photo opportunities, Kamiseta Hotel also offers a lunch buffet for PHP 358/head. Sadly, we were already full when we went there, and what is sure for us is that we'll give it a try on our next time :)

COLORFUL HOUSES AND BELL CHURCH

After Kamiseta Hotel, we actually went to Camp John Hay. It is a place where pine trees flourish and manor houses are situated. I also know that there are nice spots to wander around and activities to do, however, we were just there for a short time - like we just used the comfort room and window-shopped in their retail stores. Exactly after 30 minutes, we left for Benguet's Colorful Houses.

This place is good for photo opportunities, but for anything aesthetics per se, it is not. So do not expect a lot when you go here - at least let's appreciate its uniqueness among the typical houses.

After taking a few shots, we headed to the Bell Church. I used to know about Baguio only when I was a little girl, but Benguet is truly a huge place for tourist spots also - so I was really surprised!

I am supposed to be in Benguet but why am I in Taiwan? Joke lang syempre

I am always amazed by the topography of northern provinces in the Philippines however, I couldn't deny the environmental problem upfront me. I closed my eyes and gave a distant hug because I couldn't look at the baldness of this high land for long.

STRAWBERRY FARM

Going to the Strawberry Farm made me extra excited not because I would be picking strawberries but because I would be hoarding broccoli! Okay to be exact, I was extremely looking forward to these things when we arrived here: 1.) Broccoli 2.) Strawberries 3.) Strawberry Ice Cream 4.) Other vegetables that are far expensive in supermarkets!!!

Broccolis here are sold for Php 100 for every three kilos! So who wouldn't hoard? We bought a one-week supply of broccoli HAHAHAHA!

Of course, what is Strawberry Farm without strawberries? No doubt, it's fresh, it's good, it's sweet and cheap - the price tag says it all.

It was gloomy when we went here but they said strawberry ice cream is something we shouldn't miss! ♥ After all, once we left for our home, we would still be unsure of our next trip here so let's all consider our every trip as our last!

BURNHAM PARK

Speaking of last, our last stop for this tour was Burnham Park. It was also our second time here so we didn't go around the place that much anymore. To maximize our remaining time in Baguio, we took pictures of well-grown bougainvillea in the streets.

I wanted to go to the lakeside part however, it was raining a bit so we all just settled here and prepared for our departure for the next few minutes.

All in all, it was a great and hassle-free day tour that we had with Trip Tipid Travel and Tours. My mom was really impressed and we really wanted to go back next year - I mean every year? It's that good peeps! :)

Thank you for reading! Your eyes are well used! ♥
